In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich, because there are more of them, and the will of the majority is supreme.

    • Hi Ankit,

Thanks for following up.I was waiting to get some details on the new committee formation.

Please read the new blog post.

    • CHANDIGARH: The Union government has finally reconstituted the committee for resolving the issue of controversial encroachments in restricted zones of defence establishments in Gurgaon and Faridabad.

The new six-member committee will be headed by additional secretary in the Union ministry of urban development, while Gurgaon municipal commissioner Praveen Kumar, a scientific officer from Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, a retired director from Centre for Fire Explosives and Environmental Safety, joint chief controller (explosive) from north circle of ministry of commerce and chief planner of town and country planning department of Union ministry of urban development would be its members.

Information regarding this was conveyed to Punjab and Haryana high court on Saturday by the Union government.

The HC had on March 11 directed the Centre to reconstitute the panel for resolving the issue after expressing dissatisfaction over the inclusion of a large number of officials from the ministry of defence in the committee.

The HC was also of the view that there is need to include some experts rather than a large number of MoD officials in the committee. The bench had then directed the Centre to reconstitute the committee.

The matter came before the HC through a PIL by Suersh Goyal of Faridabad seeking removal of constructions from 100-metre area around Air Force Station, Dabua in Faridabad, which is a protected zone under the Work of Defence Act. HC had also taken cognizance of a similar matter of construction activities within the restricted zone of 900 metres of ammunition depot of Indian Air Force (IAF), Gurgaon. On November 22, 2012, it had directed the chief judicial magistrates of Faridabad and Gurgaon to visit the areas and file detailed reports

  2. its ridiculous.. poor people are waiting to make a place to live in on the small piece of land bought with the hard earned money and officials are using this issue either for grabbing votes or for collecting money as bribe. when the area has been limited to 100mtr in faridabad, why they are showing such tantrums in taking a similar step here? if not 100, limit it to 450 meter.
